4 Studying Tips for ESL Students

Learning English as a second language can be both challenging and rewarding. To make the most of your time studying at our school in the U.S., we have compiled four tips that will help you improve your English skills.

1. Full Immersion:

If you are thinking about our school and planning to come to the U.S. to study with us, you are on the right path. Surround yourself with the English language as much as possible. This includes:

  • Listening to music
  • Watching movies or TV shows (audio/subtitles in English)
  • Reading books, articles, or news
  • Changing the language on your phone’s settings
  • Writing to-do lists and grocery lists, and even a journal about your time in the U.S.

This constant exposure will help you become more familiar with the language and improve your understanding and speaking skills.

2. Practice Every Day:

The time you spend studying at home is very important. Set a specific time each day to review what you’ve learned in class and complete your homework. Practicing every day helps you remember new words and ideas.

3. Use Studying Apps:

There are many apps to help ESL students learn English. Apps like Duolingo and Mondly have lessons and practice exercises. You can also use an app to make your own flashcards like Anki or to connect with people who speak English and want to learn your language like HelloTalk. These apps can make studying more fun and help you stay motivated.

4. Build a Social Group:

Connect with other ESL students at our school. Joining study groups, clubs (MeetUp), sports, or volunteering can give you chances to practice speaking and listening in a social setting. This not only helps improve your language skills but also builds your confidence in using English in everyday situations.

By following these tips, you can improve your English skills and have a great experience studying with us.
