Learning English in USA

Dear Reader,

This week was the final week of our 9-week term, which made me reflect on our LCI students this past session. I remember how nervous some students were on their first day and then I fast forward to the last week of school and I can see how much they have improved during 9 weeks of studying at our center. Arriving in a new country can be scary, especially when you add learning a new language to the mix. However, with the right people in the right environment those fears can be pushed out and you can discover your true potential. That is where LCI comes in! Yes, we want you to succeed, we want you to learn another language, but we also want you to be happy while doing so! Anyone can learn something new but enjoying it while in the process matters! For example, this week at LCI Language Centers in Houston, Texas, our students were given final exams to see if they passed the level they have spent the last 9 weeks in. So, we decided to have “Spirit Week” for our final week of the term while our students had their final tests of our Intensive English Program.

As you can imagine, taking exams can be stressful so the faculty at LCI wanted to help relieve some of that stress by having “Spirit Week”. What is “Spirit Week”? Each day of the week we had something silly going on for the faculty and students to participate in to help calm the nerves of our students. Monday was pajama day, Tuesday was crazy hair day, Wednesday we dressed like a twin, and Thursday we wore our best clothing attire. While it does not seem like much, I can assure you it meant a lot to our student body. Teacher Raheim participated in crazy hair day, and I can hear the students laughing and discussing Teacher Raheim’s hair with him. For just a few seconds the students took their minds off their nerves and were able to joke clearly in English with each other. Throughout the day, when students walked by Teacher Raheim, a smile came across their faces without words needing to be spoken. The little things can make a difference.

Here we are, another 9-week term has come to an end, and we hope we have helped empower our students to become global citizens and community leaders.  When you are ready to take that step, we will be here for you too. We can help you obtain a Student Visa for the first time or issue you a new I-20. The process of a Change of Status can be overwhelming, so allow us to help you with the procedure. Also, if you are already studying in the USA, we can transfer your I-20 to LCI. It just starts with an inquiry. So let your journey begin! Like the quote says “Dreams do not have an expiration date” just goal for it, and we will be here cheering you on!

Students if you are reading this, your grades will be posted Monday, July 29th, 2024, on Thinkwave!

Have a great break and we will see everyone back on August 12th, 2024, at 9 am!
