Hello from LCI Language Centers! If you are reading this, you probably have an interest in learning English as a second language and you are trying to figure out what school is right for you. Of course we want you to join LCI, but more than anything, we want you to succeed. So, it is important that you have all the information needed to have a successful Education Program.
Our last blog post mentioned how to Change your Visa status to a Student Visa, and this time we would like to discuss with you how to TRANSFER your I-20 to our School. A common misunderstanding people have is thinking they must stay at the school their I-20 is assigned to. THAT IS NOT TRUE. You have the right to transfer your I-20 to another school if you follow both schools’ procedures. For example, let’s say your I-20 is assigned to a school in New York, but you really want to move to Houston, Texas to study with LCI. You would let your school in New York know that you would like to transfer and find out with their exit procedures are. Then, you would pay the admission fees to LCI Language Centers, and you will receive a transfer form and an acceptance letter from LCI that needs to be turned in to the school in New York. The school in New York will then release your I-20 records to LCI and you will officially be an LCI Language Centers Student! The whole process is done quickly and is not a whole lot of work. However, you must continue at your current school until the transfer is 100% complete. This is a rule of an F1 Student Visa, because you must maintain enrollment to keep your I-20 active.
We accept transfer students every Monday of our Term, and we issue the I-20 the same day you start your classes. LCI is here to help, we want you to succeed, and we want you to be proud of your progress. Our goal is to empower our students to be global citizens and community leaders. If you have any questions about the transfer process, feel free to Request Info and our school agent can give you more information. Remember, “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a simple step.” Lao Tzu
